Home Page

Welcome to the home page of one of Australia's largest retailers of remaindered books.

A book is "remaindered" when its publisher judges that its sales velocity has slowed to a point where it is no longer viable to keep the book in stock, and sells it off to the likes of us. We scour the globe for remainders, and then list them in our catalogues, which we print and mail every four weeks. If you would like to receive our printed catalogues, please Email Us your name and address. At any time we have two "live" catalogues, and the books in each are different. These are now on this web page, which you can browse by clicking on "SHOPPING" above.

If you prefer, you can read or print out the catalogues or just those categories you want. Just click Print Catalogue for this service.

We offer an email alert service whereby we send you an email whenever a new catalogue is posted on our web site. If you would like to receive an email alert, please Email Us.

The mailed version of our catalogue always has a chatty introduction, which is reproduced here for our most recent catalogue - July 2008.

Tom and Sally bought a lot of books at Book Expo America and were extremely relieved to step out at Canberra airport. The plane trip that normally takes 14 hours was a disaster. It began with a cancelled flight out of Los Angeles. Then they were diverted because of bad weather once they returned to Australia. This involved a lot of sitting in the plane on the tarmac - four hours was the longest stretch. The whole trip took 31.5 hours.

While in the U.S., Tom and Sally didn't see a lot of obese Americans (book people tend to be charmingly slim), but wondered why not after they had breakfasted in American diners. An omelette, presented with a mounded plateful of fried potatoes, plus toast and buttermilk pancakes on the side, could have fed a family of four quite easily. A "low-carb" breakfast was offered...a T-bone steak with four eggs. Mmm Mmm. "And your point is?" said a Rugby-playing son.

The travelling truck sales (which we, back at the ranch, call Forays) now take Tom and Sally from city to city. While in Melbourne recently at the beautiful old St. Brigid's Parish Hall, they don't make halls like it these days, a customer chuckled at the many signs taped up by the Powers-That-Be, regarding Chewing Gum, Care of the Chairs, and Instant Bond Loss if Scratch Marks Are Found on the Polished Wood Floor. "You can just feel the love" he muttered.

During the life of this catalogue we'll be having a sale in Adelaide. We don't get down that way very often and the Travelling Two haven't been there for years. So please all you South Australians, take a trip to the Russian Community Hall and meet a couple of cheery old booksellers.(For more details see Truck Sales ).
