Home PageWelcome to the home page of one of Australia's largest retailers of remaindered books.A book is "remaindered" when its publisher judges that its sales velocity has slowed to a point where it is no longer viable to keep the book in stock, and sells it off to the likes of us. We scour the globe for remainders, and then list them in our catalogues, which we print and mail every four weeks. If you would like to receive our printed catalogues, please Email Us your name and address. At any time we have two "live" catalogues, and the books in each are different. These are now on this web page, which you can browse by clicking on "SHOPPING" above. If you prefer, you can read or print out the catalogues or just those categories you want. Just click Print Catalogue for this service. We offer an email alert service whereby we send you an email whenever a new catalogue is posted on our web site. The mailed version of our catalogue always has a chatty introduction, which is reproduced here for our most recent catalogue - Midwinter 2009. We received a complaint recently. The lady who emailed us was cranky with us and said could we please stop having such good books for sale so she could stop buying and save some money. Our reply is that shoppers are always saving money when they buy from Clouston and Hall! Talking about good books we have had a very exciting purchase from Oxford University Press and the C.S.I.R.O. who wanted to make some room in their warehouses. We are slowly unpacking this colossal quantity in our bulk warehouse. We plan to have a Monster Sale of these titles in July. Their number, quality and prices will have you feeling faint with pleasure. Please keep an eye on our web site for the date. When you shop with us you never know who you might run into - lately we have sold to a logie-winning actor and a Shakespearean impresario. Our customers range from politicians and judges to prisoners, remote area school-teachers, Governors-general and restaurateurs, journalists and artists.
