Greg picking books for the sales |
Home PageWelcome to the home page of one of Australia's largest retailers of remaindered books.A book is 'remaindered' when its publisher judges that its sales velocity has slowed to a point where it is no longer viable to keep the book in stock, and sells it off to the likes of us. We scour the globe for remainders, and then list them in our catalogues, which we print and mail every four weeks. If you would like to receive our printed catalogues, please Email Us your name and address. We now have three full catalogues available to browse as well as various special selection catalogues. To browse our catalogues click on the 'Shopping' button at the top of this page. Here you will be offered the option of searching for a particular item or just browsing the catalogues. To browse select the category which interests you and then select the catalogue you want to look at (there are at least three catalogues to choose from) and then click on 'Browse'. You will see a list of titles in that category and if any title interests you, click on it to see its description and a picture of the book. If you prefer, you can read or print out the catalogues or just those categories you want. Just click Print Catalogue for this service. We offer an email alert service whereby we send you an email whenever a new catalogue is posted on our web site. If you would like to receive an email alert, please Email Us. The mailed version of our catalogue always has a chatty introduction, which is reproduced here for our most recent catalogue - June 2012. Events at C&H this month include Jack and Tom taking a flying trip to Book Expo America in New York where Jack will learn more about the art and artifices of book-buying; Sally's nephew is graduating from Duntroon, so her sisters will be down from Brisbane in force, expecting Tom to bring out lots of good wine and entertain them with witty banter; Sally is also holding a Baby Shower for Chenai, who (together with Jack) is to make the senior Cloustons grandparents for the first time - in August. Watch this space. We have had a glut of shipping containers filled with new stock arrive recently, a good thing too as we were quite empty for a while. So we are crammed with fabulous new books which will make your mouth water. They will be fed eventually into catalogues of course, but in the meantime, those of you who can visit are able to have first, delicious pickings. We have more art books in this catalogue than we have ever had before. They are gorgeous, and range from little Spanish books #20-#34 on domestic/public architecture and interiors to works on fashion (#38, #53) and the poster sets, #61, #62 and #63. The other huge section is Militaria, with lots of American Civil War and World War Two titles. The book we feel sorriest for is #84 Cattle and Sheep in North Thailand which we got in a job lot and wonder a bit at the amount of interest. Help us to find keen students of this subject! No sales are being held during the life of this catalogue. To find out details of upcoming sales in your area please check the Truck Sales page. Also, feel free to drop in to our Civic store at any time. You can find it at 20 Garema Place, CIVIC (Canberra City). It is open daily, see Where We Are for more information. |
